The Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee & Civilization Office of the Central Communist Party Committee to hold the folk Mid-Autumn Festival in Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum in Nanjing

In order to carry forward traditional Chinese culture and enrich people's cultural life of festivals, China has for the first time included the Mid-Autumn Festival in new statutory holidays. Six ministries, including the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the Civilization Office of the Central Communist Party Committee have made up the decision that since 2008, all kinds of commemorative activities shall be held, which theme is "our festivals", to celebrate the four traditional festivals: the Spring Festival, Tomb Sweeping Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival. When the administration bureau of Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum was informed of this message, they seized the opportunity and actively contacted the Civilization Office, the provincial Literary Federation, and etc. Besides, they organized specialized personnel to get related materials ready. Through various efforts, they eventually got the authority to hold the national theme activities celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival in Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum in Nanjing, Jiangsu.
The activities, the theme of which is "China Jiangsu’s first Folk Festival----the Mid-Autumn Festival, also the 2008 Nanjing International osmanthus's Day", will be co-hosted by the Civilization Office of the Central Communist Party Committee, Chinese Literary Federation, the Provincial Publicity Department of the Communist Party and the provincial Literary Federation, and co-organized by Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association, the provincial Folk Artists Association, the administration bureau of Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, the municipal province's Culture Bureau from September 13 to October 5, 2008.
It is learnt that the activities are composed of nine programmes: "the opening ceremony-----the evening of worshiping the moon in the Mid-Autumn Festival" "famous Mid-Autumn Festival cultural auditorium" "civil performing arts showcase" and "civil display of masterly skills" "civil display of manual skills" "civil snacks assembly" "Jinling (modern Nanjing) folk performances series" "Haicheng stilts arts showcase" and "large-scale reciting symphony concert".
Opening time of the evening is in the evening of September 13, the place is on the bandstand of the Sun Yat sen's Mausoleum, and the main contents are: cutting the ribbon and delivering the opening speech, the ceremony of worshiping the moon, theatrical performances and the collective jump on "moon". Theatrical performances are as the main part of the entire evening, which integrates the nine programmes and forms a unique style by comperes' hosting a series wonderful shows and interactive activities.
In view of that Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum has been successfully held nine "International Osmanthus Festival in Nanjing, China", and holding time and location is similar to "Folk Festival----the Mid-Autumn Festival", in order to integrate resources, to enlarge advantages, and to better propagandize Nanjing to people all around the country and further enhance the city image of Nanjing in the national theme activities, the sponsors seek to jointly organize the two parts through a careful plan. The evening of September 13 "The Opening Ceremony----Cultural Show of Worshiping the Moon on the Mid-Autumn Festival," will be broadcast live or by recorded video on CCTV, and the news will be broadcast in "News Network", which is important economic activity and initiative to upgrade the overall image of Nanjing City, to promote the process of "creating the National civilized city", and to enlarge and strengthen Nanjing's tourism economy.
