Administration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum made urgent donations to disaster-stricken areas in Taiwan

The strait cannot cut off the blood relations between compatriots of the two sides of Taiwan strait

In recent days, “Morakot” typhoon heavily shocked Taiwan, and the rainstorm brought by the typhoon caused the most serious flood in the past 50 years in the south of Taiwan, and lives and property of out compatriots in disaster-stricken areas in Taiwan suffered great losses. On the morning of August 13, the Administration of Dr Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum took action, and carried out the donation activity for disaster relief at the Universal Fraternity Square of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum.

Director Wang Pengshan proposed for donation, calling on all the employees in the scenic area, units stationed in the scenic area, businessmen and tourists to carry forward the traditional Chinese virtue of “When disaster strikes, help comes from all sides”, and inherit the universal fraternity of “People of Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum”, contributing our small share and passing our universal fraternity to our compatriots in disaster-stricken areas. Director Wang Pengshan gave a check of 100,000 Yuan (RMB) to He Huijun, the Secretary-General of Nanjing Red Cross Society on behalf of the Administration; and employees of all the sections, units and restructured companies of Administration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum and units stationed in the scenic area loosened their purse strings generously and enthusiastically made donation. You donated 500 Yuan, I donated 200 Yuan and he donated 100 Yuan. With their action, they do all they can to encourage and help compatriots in disaster-stricken areas to rebuild their homes. A donation relay was carried out in the scenic area rapidly, and Dongjiao Hotel in the scenic area also donated 26,500 Yuan.

Universal fraternity is the best bridge to bring the hearts closer.

Giving mutual help and protection is always the traditional Chinese virtue carried forward for several hundred years. Now, Sun Yat-sen’ Mausoleum has added a brand-new annotation to the virtue, that is, we want to have a special exchange with our Taiwan compatriots through the love that everyone understands to write a densely-colored stroke on the great love of blood being thicker than water of compatriots of the two sides of Taiwan strait.

On the site of the donation, many Chinese and foreign tourists were deeply moved, and they consciously joined the love-showing donation: several American and French tourists donated without hesitation after knowing all about it. In just more than an hour that morning, Administration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum donated 212,489 Yuan for compatriots in disaster-stricken areas in Taiwan.

At present the disaster relief donation is still undergoing in the scenic area, and the Red Cross Society of the scenic area has set up a donation desk at the Universal Fraternity Square, raising donations from tourists and citizens. At the same time many employees who failed to participate in the collective donation also came specially to send donation to the Red Cross Society of the scenic area on purpose in succession, and their love-showing to people in disaster-stricken areas in Taiwan was so moving, fully demonstrating the universal fraternity of “People of Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum”.

In order to help Taiwan compatriots affected by “Morakot” typhoon to resume normal life as soon as possible, the scenic area has remitted the donation to the account of Nanjing Red Cross Society promptly, and it is predicted that it can be soon delivered to people of disaster-stricken areas in Taiwan.
