Mr. Tao Miheng Representing the Central Military Museum of Russia paid the second visit to Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs

The other day, Mr. Tao Miheng, an envoy of Russian embassy, came to Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs for a seminar and visit. It was the second time for Mr. Tao to have come to Nanjing since Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs and The Central Military Museum of Russia signed a ten-year agreement of friendly cooperation in 2009. Mr. Wang Pengshan and Mr. Shen Xianjin, head and vice-head of the Administration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum respectively, accompanied Mr. Tao throughout his visit.
First, Mr. Tao donated a set of compact discs entitled “China during the War” to Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs on behalf of The Central Military Museum of Russia. With a duration of more than one hour, this set of compact discs records some valuable video data photographed by a war correspondent of the former Soviet Union in China in the late 1930s. As also revealed by this envoy, the national Duma chairman of Russia will visit China in late May this year, and will visit the memorial hall during his visit to China. Then, he will donate a batch of valuable cultural relics of World War Ⅱ (including anti-aircraft artillery and pistol) to the memorial hall, which will become the second batch of valuable cultural relics donated by Russia to Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs.
As expressed by Mr. Tao, Russia has been attaching great importance to reinforcing the cooperation between both parties in memorial halls, and it will continue to reinforce cooperation and exchange between the two halls in the future by co-holding relevant exhibitions and academic seminars. In addition, Russia is willing to provide Nanjing Memorial Hall of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs with historical data about aviation martyrs of the former Soviet Union having sacrificed their life while assisting China in resisting Japanese invaders. Russia is also likely to offer some support in the aspect of the construction fund for the memorial hall. Furthermore, Mr. Tao invited the Administration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum to go to Russia this year for an exchange and visit.
