(Background Information )
Yuhua tea known as one of ten types of famous Chinese tea is a special local product of Nanjing. Its tight, slim, round and straight strip, its faintly visible white hair, its tender green color, its beautiful pine needle-like shape, its refreshing and mellow flavor, its elegant and enduring aroma as well as its clear soup hue with light green and evenly-bright leaves make it a favorite among all natives in Nanjing. Dr Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum Tea Factory is the birthplace and home of Yuhua tea. “Yuhua tea” named by Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee began to be developed by the Administration of Dr Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum in the spring of 1958 and was successfully produced the following year through one-year research and trial production. It has a production history of over 50 years since the first pot of Yuhua tea was roasted in the spring of 1959. Located at the scenic area of Nanjing eastern suburb, Dr Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum Tea Factory was built in 1931. Its original base was an attached plantation to Dr Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum where tea trees of over 300 mu (1 mu = 666.67 m2) were planted around Linggu Temple, Mount Meihua and Meiling Palace.
