President Jerzy Buzek of European Parliament and His Party Visited Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum
Accompanied by Cha Peixin, vice chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of National People's Congress of China and Bo Suning, chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Jiangsu Province, President Jerzy Buzek of European Parliament and his party of 10 people visited the scenic area of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum on the afternoon of May 28th, 2010. Wang Pengshan, head of the Administration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum, accompanied them throughout their visit.
Ascending step by step from Memorial Archway of Universal Fraternity, Mr. Buzek and his party visited the mausoleum gate, the memorial archway, the sacrificial hall and the vault as well as the Mubao garden one by one. Mr. Buzek spoke highly of the afforestation of the scenic area many times on their way “Upon getting off the car, I saw everything is green and the mountain is covered with green plants. These plants look so fresh and are full of vitality, pleasing people so much.” “Yes, Mr. President” said Chairman Wang Pengshan, “All of our employees feel extremely happy to work in these surroundings.” Learning that these plants are nearly one hundred years old, Mr. Buzek exclaimed “How have you done it—protecting and managing these plants and buildings so well!”
After having visited Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum, Chairman Wang Pengshan accompanied Mr. Buzek on a visit to the Sacred Way of the scenic area of the Ming Tomb Mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty. At the suggestion of Chairman Wang Pengshan, Mr. Buzek posed for pictures with the charmingly naïve elephant in high spirits.
When leaving the scenic area, Mr. Buzek held Chairman Wang Pengshan’s hands firmly saying “Thank you for your meticulous arrangements which enabled me to have seen so many beautiful sceneries in such a short time. Afforstation here is fantastic. It is fascinating that greenery greets my eye everywhere. It is rare to see a place like this with so many beautiful sceneries and so profound historic accumulation. When the opportunity presents itself, I will certainly come to Nanjing and to this beautiful Mount Zijin again.”

Invited by Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, President Jerzy Buzek of European Parliament paid an official visit to China from May 25 to 29. Wu Bangguo, member of the Standing Committee of the Politic-bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council, as well as Xi Jinping, Chinese Vice President met with President Buzek respectively on May 26th and 27th in Beijing. Nanjing is the second stop of their visit. Liang Baohua, secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the CPC and vice chairman of Standing Commitee of the Provincial People's Congress, met with Mr. Buzek and his party on May 28th. Mr Buzek gave a lecture at Nanjing University on May 28th. President Buzek went to Shanghai to attend the opening ceremony of “European Parliament Friendship Day” held in Belgium-EU Pavilion on May 29th.
